About Me
When I look at the world I am pessimistic, but when I look at people I am optimistic - Carl Rogers
Hello, my name is Philip Kemp, MBACP, and I am a qualified Humanistic counsellor and psychotherapist and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), working within the high standards of their ethical framework necessary for the integrity and ethical rigour of my work. I hold a BA (Hons) in Counselling as well as an enhanced DBS certificate and professional indemnity insurance, both integral to working with vulnerable adults and children.
Through my work at The Outhouse and Essex CRC, I have accrued a diversity of clinical experience, facilitating both face-to-face and remote counselling sessions for adult service users from the criminal justice system and the LGBTQ+ community. This work has offered me the opportunity to work with a variety of clients, addressing issues such as abuse, anxiety, depression, domestic violence, gender dysphoria, self-harm and suicide ideation to name a few. I currently work as a counsellor for HBBS Counselling and Survivors in Transition, as well as operating my private practice in Brentwood, Essex.
I am dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the quality of my work, attending regular clinical supervision and continuing to develop my practice through further training and research.
